Seminar on status, training and future perspectives kicks off academic year

Ryan King, Editor-in-Chief of Fine Dining Lovers, kicked off the academic year at the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy with a fascinating seminar focusing on the current working conditions, opinions and training needs of young chefs.

Dissecting the results of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Monitor Survey 2020, King, accompanied by journalist and Academy spokesperson Tom Jenkins, was able to paint a picture of an optimistic and business-focused group of young chefs, who see a future in the industry, despite a turbulent year, and who view the pandemic as an opportunity for real change.

A live Facebook Q&A followed the seminar, during which the Academy’s members were able to put questions to the pair. The illuminating discussion that followed touched on several topics, including new business models for restaurants and why King believes the industry will bounce back stronger than ever after the pandemic.

After a successful first seminar, we are now looking forward to the second on 17 December, which again will be available to members via the Academy’s private Facebook group. Similarly, it will focus on the results of the Monitor Survey, but this time from the expert point of view of world-class chefs, namely Andreas Caminada, Clare Smyth, Enrico Bartolini, Gavin Kaysen, Manu Buffara, and Mauro Colagreco. 

These chefs are also known as the Sages, the jurors who will ultimately decide the next S.Pellegrino Young Chef at the competition’s Grand Finale in Milan in October 2021.

The Academy believes connecting young and senior chefs is key to nurturing the game-changing culinary talent of the future. To support this goal, our educational program will call on some of the biggest personalities in the world of gastronomy for a series of unique and thought-provoking seminars, including chefs, restaurateurs, businesspeople, and thought leaders.
